Getting a head start December 26, 2011 – Posted in: Mondays with Mona
I hope you enjoyed the holidays – and maybe even still do, having time off work and spending quiet time with your families. We’ve had a good time, with some drama here and there, like the power out last night just when I was preparing dinner for some guests that luckily had not arrived yet. After hearing that the loss of power was meant to last for a few hours, we packed everything up and finished cooking at our friends’ house who were gracefully having us over for a second night in a row. Of course finding out upon coming home that I forgot to turn off the stove before we left – on ‘high’ nonetheless – and almost set the house on fire didn’t make things any better. That is going to be a good story to tell in a couple of years from now when my nerves are a bit calmer and I don’t have to think about what could have happened but thankfully did not.
For now I have decided to start something fresh before the year ends and learn a new technique: Adding some beads to my knitting. I never felt like it, now I do and I found a project that fits the bill: The bias “Before and After” Scarf from Churchmouse Yarns. My bead stash is a bit shiny for what I have in mind, but I’m looking forward to knitting with the Classic Elite Yarns Silky Alpaca Lace that I found in my stash and is exactly what the pattern asks for.
Next time you hear from me 2012 is going to be here, so a very Happy (and healthy) New Year!
