Join me on Thursdays! August 23, 2012 – Posted in: Thursday This and That

If you missed me last Monday you will be relieved to hear that I am still here – posting on Thursdays instead of Mondays from now on. “Mondays with Mona” are gone – Thursdays it is. However, I haven’t been able to think of a catchy name, maybe you can help out? More on that at the end of my post.

If you follow the blog and visited the store lately you might have realized that new yarns have started to come in, all in preparation for what I like to call “sweater season” meaning Fall and Winter when we knitters feel in our element and click away on scarfs, sweaters, hats and whatnot. Lisa and Melissa are busy knitting up new samples all the time, and I felt compelled to make one of them for my daughter. She tried it on last Saturday when we visited the store, looked adorable wearing it and that clinched the deal. I’m talking of “Capucine”, featured on our Free pattern Fridays last week.

It feels a bit weird knitting a hat in chunky yarn in this still relatively hot weather, but I know it pays to be prepared and have some new head toppers at hand when the cold mornings come around. Which is going to be all too soon for the lot of us.

I am using a skein of “Cascade 128” (colour choice of an almost 4 year old) and 5 mm needles to get a hat the size of the store sample, which fits perfectly. The knitting is done, all that’s left is making and attaching the tassels – which I am going to talk about next week, with pictures and everything.

Now, back to the issue of a new name for my blog contributions. For now this post sits “uncategorized” which really does nothing for me.

I’m asking for help and encourage you to leave a comment with ideas for a new category that describes what I do on Thursdays. If your entry is a winner, meaning: what I am looking for, and I am going to use it from then on, you get a skein of “Cascade 128” in your colour of choice to make your own version of “Capucine” or whatever floats your boat.

Should it happen that there are many entries but I cannot make up my mind, all names will be entered into a draw for the skein lottery-style.

I cannot wait to see what you come up with, comment away!! See you  next Thursday,

– Mona
