Simple Pleasures Hat by Purl Soho

We’ve added two new 100% mongolian cashmere products to our store this Fall – Jade Sapphire 2-ply (laceweight) and 6-ply (worsted). We’re just waiting on a few more colours in the 2-ply weight to arrive before I do a proper post on these exquisite yarns but, in the meantime, I thought I’d share one of the projects I’m about to cast on (as soon as I can decide between the cream and charcoal) – the Simple Pleasures Hat by Purl Soho. This pattern truly is just that – it’s one of the easiest hat patterns going (not even requiring DPNs or magic-looping to close the top) combining the softest, fluffiest fibers – cashmere, silk, and mohair which are pure pleasure to knit. The hat is begun with 2 strands of the 2-ply cashmere held together. Once the ribbing is complete, one strand is dropped and a strand of Rowan’s Kidsilk Haze is added in. If you are sensitive to mohair, you could easily substitute Filatura di Crosa’s Superior, a light-as-air blend of cashmere and silk. Either way, this hat will run on pricier side but it will be a total luxury meant to be worn and loved a very long time…
