Round-up of recent deliveries… September 19, 2012 – Posted in: New in Store, Project Ideas

The Canada Post, UPS, and Canpar guys are not happy with us this week. They’ve been making HUGE deliveries to the store and having to heave massive boxes up our steps because the elevator is temporarily out of service. Yikes! Lots of yarns have been re-stocked – some are shown below along with project ideas but there are many more, including Handmaiden 4-ply Cashmere, Misti Alpaca Chunky, Berroco Flicker, and Perl Grey patterns and necklaces.

Ecological Wool, Eco Wool+, and Eco Wool+ Heathers

(Project photo: bluedogwoolies)

With nearly 440 metres per skein, this 100% Peruvian Highland wool provides incredible quality at an affordable price. Available in a great range of natural (minimally processed) colours as well as beautifully hued and heathered colourways produced using environmentally friendly dyes. Soft and springy with brilliant stitch definition. We love this yarn for blankets and sweaters!

A super bulky weight Peruvian Highland wool, Cascade’s Lana Grande is a great affordable choice for everything from afghans to garments to winter accessories. Lots of colours in stock including “Natural” – a popular choice among many of our customers who have succumbed to the beauty of Jared Flood’s Umaro blanket (pictured above).

Cascade Eco Cloud and Cascade Cloud (Colours!)

(Project photo: Espace Tricot)

An incredibly soft alpaca (30%) / merino (70%) blend with a chainette, or braided, construction which lends strength and loft while minimizing the potential for shedding or pilling.  The 10 undyed shades of Eco Cloud is produced naturally with no chemicals. Cloud is new to Espace Tricot and is Eco Cloud’s showy sister – identical in every way but available in a wide range of vibrant colourways! Ideal for winter accessories, sweaters, and blankets!

Berroco Blackstone Tweed

(Project photo: Silka Burgoyne)

From the Berroco website… “Tweed for the discerning knitter! This super soft yarn has all the rustic appeal of a classic tweed yarn but with a high dose of mohair and angora. With wear, garments will develop a soft and fuzzy halo. A joy to wear and a pleasure to knit.” Couldn’t have said it better myself…

Berroco Peruvia Quick

(Project photo: Berroco Inc)

Peruvia Quick is a 2 ply twist of Peruvian Highland wool available in Berroco’s best-selling heathered and solid shades. We’ve used this a lot for sweaters (including the Nimbus pictured above) and love that it’s both soft and light but still provides ample structure to knitted garments.
