A good hat. November 19, 2012 – Posted in: Project Ideas
I felt like a quick, satisfying project this weekend and decided to knit my husband a new winter hat from some stash yarn leftover from a misguided sweater attempt (poor marriage of yarn and pattern so subsequently frogged). I’ve made the Big Easy Hat pattern by Vivan Aubrey a few times now and keep coming back to it mainly because it’s one of those projects that is a simple and rewarding pleasure to knit. This basic slouchy beanie looks great on EVERYONE – from kids to adults, men and women. The snug fit of the ribbing makes for warm ears and the subtle slouch lends a modern stylish look. We highly recommend! The version below is knit with a yummy hand-dyed blend of merino, cashmere, and silk (Tanis Fiber Arts Orange Label) but any worsted to aran weight yarn will do.
