A Superior Yarn December 11, 2012 – Posted in: New in Store, Project Ideas
I am an avid reader of the YarnHarlot’s blog (if you enjoy intelligent, witty, knitterly chat and are unfamiliar with this Canadian treasure, I highly recommend a visit to her site!) and her post yesterday, in which she showed a beautiful cowl knit up with Filatura di Crosa’s Superior, reminded me that we recently received a full re-stock of this exquisitely soft blend of cashmere and silk laceweight yarn including 10 new colours. We find ourselves using Superior a lot in the store, both on its own and stranded with other yarns to add a delicate halo and softness. While on the pricier side, this yarn really does go a long way – with just one ball you can knit a Superior Cowl or two Pretty Thing cowls – see below. Both, perfect gifts… just sayin’.
Superior Cowl by Patricia Scribner (sample available for viewing in store)
Pretty Thing by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (otherwise known as the Yarnharlot)

I’d love it if you could show samples of your experiments with Superior and other yarns. I knit a shawl a couple of years ago with the pink colour then frogged it and knitted a beautiful scarf from Fiddlesticks. It’s beautiful stuff but only works with some patterns.
