Free pattern Friday: Independence Pillow June 16, 2014 – Posted in: Free Pattern Fridays, Project Ideas
A few days late but who’s keeping track… 🙂
As with many of Michelle Hunter’s designs, the Independence Pillow is a great project to learn new skills supported with free online video lessons. This particular pattern will teach you to cable without a cable needle, create better buttonholes, and improve your finishing skills. As the designer notes, pillows make for perfect summer knitting: “These quick to knit home accessories are just the right size for your travel knitting. My knitting is the first thing that I pack for any trip and this project will fit easily into any suitcase.” They also provide a great platform for exploring new techniques and yarns with a small project.
Each pillow requires 2 skeins of Hikoo Simpliworsted yarn and it just so happens that we are fully stocked. You’ll also need a set of 5 mm needles (or size necessary to achieve gauge), a 12? square pillow form, and 3 buttons (approximately 1?).
