New store samples: Less is More & Garter Gaiter January 28, 2015 – Posted in: Project Ideas, Store Samples
Less is More
A simple, asymmetrical, sideways knit shawl just perfect for a lovely hand-dyed fingering weight yarn. We contemplated changing the moss stitch sections to garter but are so glad we didn?t. The moss stitch provides a more subtle texture which gives the fabric a beautiful sophistication and drape. As hoped, Freia?s new Refined Fingering Merino Silk yarn is a dream to knit with – incredibly soft with just the right amount of structure (18 colourways in stock).

Garter Gaiter
A quick and cozy cowl with a strong sense of style! A very simple, knit-in-the-round pattern with a dramatic two-tone effect. We chose to knit this up with two skeins of A.S.A.P. – a luscious new single-ply merino from Madelinetosh – and are very happy with the soft, lofty fabric. Can be worn alone or, for a closer fit, with a shawl stick or pin. We opted for a black leather closure from Jul Silver for some added ?edge?.
We currently have a wide selection of Jul Silver closures and 38 colours of A.S.A.P. in stock!

How did you get that gorgeous gradient effect in the shawl? Is that the way the yarn is dyed? it’s absolutely beautiful 🙂

That’s just the beauty of the yarn 🙂
