New store samples: Brioche Cowls! September 19, 2016 – Posted in: Project Ideas, Store Samples

Briochevron cowl & scarf by Stephen West

We opted for the cowl version of Stephen West’s beautiful, squishy Briochevron Cowl & Scarf, which is achieved by simply sewing the I-cord CO and BO edges together with a half twist. The black Manos del Uruguay Maxima yarn provides a perfect stage for the colour-changing Schoppel-Wolle Gradient to come out and play and the delicious allover texture means this cowl looks great no matter how you twist it. The easy to memorize pattern is a pleasure to knit and the finished piece will surely impress!

Wheat and Chaff Cowl by Katrin Schubert

The WHEATandCHAFF Cowl by Katrin Schubert yields a perfectly reversible piece with different patterns on the right and “wrong” sides. The most surprising thing about this little gem? The pattern is achieved with straight two-colour brioche knitting and just one single pattern round. As the designer notes, this is a “one-round-wonder which gives you a two-in-one pattern”! We knit our store sample with Manos del Uruguay’s Maxima – 1 skein each of two contrasting colourways – and love the stunning effect. Soft and cozy with dramatic flare!
