New Store Samples: Hawthorne, Shaelyn January 11, 2012 – Posted in: Store Samples

As promised in last week’s blog post about this shawl, below are photos of the finished Hawthorne. The SweetGeorgia Superwash Worstedyarn lends a great weight and drape to the shawl and, if possible, the ‘pumpkin’ colourway is even more beautiful knit up than in the skein. Three skeins were used for this project. Lisa…

How to…cast on with beads January 9, 2012 – Posted in: How to, Mondays with Mona

Always use one bead less than stitches to cast on, since the beads will sit between the cast…

On the needles: Hawthorne by Susanna IC – Posted in: On the Needles

There were other projects in my queue but I couldn’t resist. Forget sugar plums, as soon as our order of Superwash Worsted from SweetGeorgia rolled into the store just before the holidays, visions of Susanna IC’s Hawthorneshawlin a gorgeous shade of orange danced in my head. As those who know me can attest, my colour preferences lean heavily towards the “neutral” camp. That said, there’s really no accounting for the fact that I am completely…

Bead it January 2, 2012 – Posted in: Mondays with Mona

First, Happy 2012 everyone! The new year didn’t come with a ‘swoosh’ (I always expect that, it has never happened) but crept in calmly and quietly. I’ll have to remind myself to write 2012 for a while, wonder how it can be 2012 at all – then by mid January I’m over that and accept that time just goes by at its own rate. As announced in last weeks’ post I have actually sat down…
