Although the blanket may look intimidating to some, the pattern notes assure that this is, in fact, a very straightforward project. It uses just four skeins of Cascade Eco Wool/…

New store sample: Cladonia – Posted in: Store Samples

The Cladoniashawl by Kirsten Kapur has been in my cue for a while and, over the holidays, I took some time to work this lovely pattern with some equally lovely fingering weight yarn from SweetGeorgia. While the original pattern calls for two different colours for a definite striping effect, I was torn between the modern look of the stripes and the sophistication of a more monochromatic look per some single colour versions of the shawl…

Getting a head start December 26, 2011 – Posted in: Mondays with Mona

I hope you enjoyed the holidays – and maybe even still do, having time off work and spending quiet time with your families. After hearing that the loss of power was meant to last for a few hours, we packed everything up and…

SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted has arrived! December 22, 2011 – Posted in: New in Store, Project Ideas

Felicia Lo’s beautiful machine-washable heavy worsted weight yarn landed in our store yesterday and we couldn’t be happier with both the quality of the yarn and the saturated, hand-dyed colourways. SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted is a springy workhorse yarn suitable for just about everything from hard-wearing sweaters to quick-knit accessories. My mind is spinning with ideas but the Hawthorne by Susanna IC in “Pumpkin” is quite forcibly elbowing its way to the top of my queue……

A short note on short rows December 19, 2011 – Posted in: Mondays with Mona

While most of us are in the throes of preparations for the holidays – no matter which ones – a lot of us are also in the eleventh hour of gift knitting. I like to pretend I am on top of things this year. Mostly because I picked smaller projects that I could finish in two days (or less, depending on the time I had to spare for knitting). Then I go and add more,…
