Andrea Mowry’s STRIPES! project knit with these beautiful selections from the Espace Tricot palette is just the ray of sunshine to see you through long winter months of confinement. The bright pops of colour tempered by soft pastels, and the delicious texture of our Halo yarn held double, create a lofty, cosy, and cheerful fabric. The pattern is very clearly written and would be great for a first sweater project: the stripes are addictive and it will seem to fly off your needles. We love how Andrea encourages you to play with colour and make your sweater unique.
We chose colours somewhat randomly but with method: two pale colours between the pops of Cirque and Bonjour/Hi, alternating evenly.
For those who would like to follow our colour placement, it is:
1- Cirque / 2- Les Filles / 3- Hibou / 4- Bonjour/Hi / 5- Baleine / 3 / 1 / 5 / 2/ 4 / 3 / 2 / 1 / 3 / 5 / 4 / 2 / 5 / 1
Notes on choosing a 5 or 6 skein kit:
We knit size 4 with 5 skeins of Halo, held double. We knit it a couple of stripes longer than Andrea recommended, and had enough leftover of each colour for at least one more stripe. While the yardage of the 5-skein kit doesn’t quite reach the pattern recommendation for size 5 and up, we do think you could knit size 5 to Andrea’s recommended body length with the 5-skein kit (although you would end on a different colour stripe to our version).
However, if you want to knit size 6 or 7, or if you want to knit size 5 a bit longer, we recommend getting the 6-skein kit.
Finally, if you would like to knit size 8, 9 or 10 – we would be happy to curate an additional skein or two to coordinate with those included here. Just reach out to us at [email protected]
