Gepard Yarn - Woolia

C$8.50
This yarn is something truly special - made from the wool of Merino Gentile Puglia, an ancient Italian sheep breed with deep roots in its homeland.
12 in stock

These sheep and lambs graze freely among fruit and olive trees on organic farms and vast open landscapes. Woolia is spun exclusively from their wool, preserving the heritage of this original merino breed, which has thrived in Puglia and surrounding areas for generations. It’s an eco-friendly process that prioritizes both the well-being of the sheep and the livelihoods of the farmers.

The wool is carefully sorted by the farmers themselves and sold directly to the spinning mill. This ensures they receive a fair price for their work while maintaining full traceability—right down to the individual flocks.

With its delightful softness, natural durability, and resistance to pilling, Woolia is an ideal and practical choice for sweaters. Its minimal treatment and lofty spin results in a fantastic value for the yardage too, with around 30% more yardage than comparable worsted-weight yarns. That means lightweight yet cozy sweaters, even with cables or Fair Isle knitting.

When you first touch Woolia, you might notice the signature slightly dry texture of merino. But that same quality is what gives the yarn its remarkable lightness, beautiful stitch definition, and the ability to hold its shape no matter the gauge. And while it may feel different at first, Woolia creates a fabric with a smooth, elegant finish that wears beautifully over time.

We love the versatility of Woolia: try it at different gauges for creative results! The standard recommended gauge is 16-18 stitches in 4". Here are a few guidelines from the manufacturer: as ever, use the needle size you need to get your pattern gauge!
